Raza Microelectronics Expands RMI Partner Alliance

Raza Microelectronics®, Inc. (RMI®), a worldwide leader in advanced semiconductor solutions for Communications, Networking and Consumer Applications, announced its RMI Partner Alliance (RPA) has extended to include Altera Corporation, Vitesse Semiconductor, and Octera Corporation. Headlined by more than 35 companies, the RPA gives RMI the most comprehensive partner eco-system in the industry. Partner companies include a broad range of Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), Value-add Component vendors, Software Development groups and Codec developers, among others.

The RPA’s goal is to create and maintain a broad consortium representing key industry segments. To develop comprehensive system solutions, the RPA is comprised of strategic leaders in each of RMI’s product component markets. Together, RPA members provide all of the essential components for developing, verifying, integrating and building a wide range of products based on RMI semiconductor solutions that offer new levels of functionality and price-performance for its customers.

The RPA creates synergy among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and ODM partners in software, tools, and applications focusing on the industry’s most complete MIPS-Based(TM) product lines: the RMI XLR and XLS Processors(TM) and the RMI Alchemy Processor(TM).

New RPA Members Include:

Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) is the pioneer of programmable logic solutions, enabling system and semiconductor companies to rapidly and cost effectively innovate, differentiate, and win in their markets. After inventing the technology in 1983, Altera continues to be at the forefront of programmable logic innovation. Today, Altera offers FPGAs, CPLDs, and structured ASICs in combination with software tools, intellectual property, and customer support to provide high-value programmable solutions to customers worldwide. For example, for high-end communications applications, Altera’s 65nm Stratix III FPGAs offer the highest memory to logic ratio and DSP performance compared to other FPGAs in the industry.

Octera Corporation develops intellectual property and provides design services for the networking/telecom, satellite/cable modem, computing/storage, military and industrial markets predominantly in FPGA, ASIC and structured ASIC products. In the networking/telecom markets, Octera regularly delivers 10 Gig MAC layers, XAUI, and SPI 4.2 designs for bridging and other functions.

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Pink Sheets: VTSS) designs, develops and markets a diverse portfolio of high-performance, cost-competitive semiconductor solutions for communications and storage networks worldwide. The solutions include Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Ethernet-over-SONET, Fibre Channel, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), Optical Transport and other applications.

“We are extremely pleased to have Altera, Octera and Vitesse as part of our industry-leading partner program,” said Mark Litvack, director of business development, Scalable Processor Solutions, at RMI. “The efforts that our partners put forth to ensure interoperability with RMI products result in superior system solutions, allow much faster product deployment and allow us to continue to extend our reach and grow our market share.”

RMI’s products push the edge of processor technology in performance and integration and are used by system and original equipment manufacturers to address the enterprise, consumer, and core network markets. The company’s XLR, Alchemy, and Orion(TM) processor families are highly-integrated designs incorporating advanced internal architectures and built on leading-edge silicon process technologies.
