Lambda Debuts KM Series 15-40W Medical PCB Mount AC-DC Power Supplies

Posted by EDA Geek News Staff in Components on Thursday, September 27, 2007

Lambda has introduced the KM Series of medically approved 15W to 40W enclosed PCB mount power supplies with single-, dual- or triple outputs. Eliminating the need for external power adaptors, these small, lightweight power supplies are ideal for use in a wide variety of medical equipment, in particular portable applications such as electronic blood pressure monitors and home infusion therapy equipment.

Available in two package sizes - 64.0mm x 45.5mm x 23.4mm (15W models) and 88.9mm x 63.5mm x 26.9mm (40W models) - the KM Series covers all commonly used output voltages. The single-output models are available from 3.3V to 24V with typical efficiency up to 83%. For the dual-output units, ranges include ±5V, ±12V and ±15V as well as 5V/12V versions. Typical efficiency for these models is up to 83%. The triple-output models cover various outputs, including 5V/±12V with efficiencies to an impressive 80%.

Lambda KM Series 15-40W medical PCB mount AC-DC power suppliesAll configurations accept a broad range of input voltages: 90 to 264VAC, 47 to 440Hz or 100 to 375VDC. No ground connection is required as the KM Series is a Class II device. The models are rated for operation in a convection cooled environment from -25°C to 70°C, derating linearly to 50% load from 50°C to 70°C. Other features include over current and over voltage, as well as over temperature protection.

Lambda's KM Series power supplies have 4kVAC input to output isolation, and meet EN60601-1-2 immunity and Class B (15W) and Class A (40W) EMI standards. Leakage current at 230VAC is less than 200µA. They are also safety approved to IEC/UL60601-1 specifications and are CE marked. Depending on model, Lambda gives the KM Series an MTBF of between 200,000 and 400,000 hours. All models carry a two-year warranty.
