GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Launches PC8 All-In-One Industrial Computer
Continuing to develop products that precisely match customer requirements for robust operation in harsh environments while delivering outstanding price/performance and flexibility, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems announced the PC8 All-In-One computer. Designed primarily for industrial applications, but suitable for other similar uses such as in transportation and medical applications, the PC8 features an Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor operating at up to 1.5 GHz and 1 GByte of DDR memory in a compact EMI-protected metal housing that supports DINrail mounting.
The PC8 derives its superior flexibility from the inclusion of three PC/104+ slots, giving customers access to the extensive range of PC/104+ mezzanine modules and allowing the system to be precisely configured to meet specific requirements. A CANbus interface is also optionally available.
“With its small form factor, its flexibility, its ability to operate in difficult environments and its price/performance, the PC8 is an ideal solution for many industrial customers, and for those customers whose application demands a similar feature set,” said Jürgen Eder, Product Manager at GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. “The PC8 is the latest in a long line of industrial DINrail PCs from GE Fanuc Embedded Systems, and provides further evidence of our commitment to developing state of the art platforms for customers for whom absolute reliability is a requirement.”
Further user flexibility is provided in the shape of optional fanless operation, using a 600 MHz Intel(R) Celeron(R) processor; with the option of configuring two of the PC8’s serial I/O ports as RS232/422 ports or with optical isolation; and the optional availability of a 2.5″ hard disk or Flash drive. The PC8 also provides a DVI-D interface via PanelLink(R) with resolutions up to 1,600 x 1,200, two Fast Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports and a parallel port. The PC8 supports Windows(R) XP: Linux is optionally available.
