Analog Devices, NI Offer Free Spice Simulation Software

Today’s product development teams are strained from the dual challenge posed by narrowing market windows and highly integrated, labor-intensive system designs. Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, announced the availability of a free, downloadable circuit design environment that simplifies and speeds product design by allowing developers to capture schematics and simulate circuits for evaluation of ADI’s world-leading operational amplifiers (op amps) and other linear circuits.

Developed by National Instruments (NASDAQ: NATI), a leading supplier of innovative solutions for test, control and design, NI Multisim(TM) Analog Devices(R) Edition is a new version of the NI Multisim SPICE simulation software created for component evaluation and circuit design. The new tool, loaded with over 800 ADI op amps and other linear circuits, helps shrink product development time by allowing designers to quickly and easily select, evaluate, prototype and test ADI’s linear circuits in a low-risk “virtual evaluation board” environment.

At the same time, we’ve preserved the look and feel of ADI’s amplifier parametric evaluation tool user interface, so our customers don’t have to worry about the ramp-up time and lost productivity that can come from migrating to a new and unfamiliar design environment.”

NI Multisim Analog Devices Edition helps engineers easily design circuits and understand fundamental design characteristics with advanced circuit analyses in an intuitive virtual prototyping environment. With this tool, engineers can easily swap ADI components to pinpoint the best design option, avoiding costly and time-consuming prototype rework. NI Multisim Analog Devices Edition is available through the Analog Devices’ Design Center web site, which includes the ADIsimOpAmp(TM) free online amplifier parametric evaluation tool that allows designers to select, configure and troubleshoot a circuit using a graphical development environment powered by National Instruments LabVIEW(TM) graphical programming language and NI Multisim SPICE simulation software.

NI Multisim Analog Devices Edition software is available for free download from the Analog Devices web site. Engineers can use NI Multisim Analog Devices Edition to quickly prototype a design and perform part selection, and they can then upgrade to a complete version of NI Multisim to complete their design and transfer to NI Ultiboard(TM) for board layout and production.
