SpectraLinear Launches Programmable Spread Spectrum Clock Generators

SpectraLinear Inc., a leading provider of timing solutions for the consumer, computer and communication markets, announced the production availability of SL15100 and SL15101 programmable spread-spectrum clock generators to reduce electro-magnetic interface emissions (EMI) in high-speed communications, consumer and computing applications.

The SL15100 and SL15101 eliminate the need for expensive and difficult to use shielding and filtering by passive components such as beads, chokes and R/C/L filters, saving development time and manufacturing cost. In addition, the spread spectrum function can be turned off without any performance degradation, enabling system designers to replace a wide range of crystal oscillators (XOs) with a single programmable device. The SL15100 and SL15101 can be used in a wide range of digital entertainment, handheld and portable, consumer and communications applications, including routers, switches, servers, HDTVs, set-top boxes, base stations, personal computers, games, digital still cameras, printers and copiers.

“The introduction of these products signifies the beginning of a wide range of functionally enhanced and high-performance Programmable EProClock(TM) timing products to be introduced soon,” said Dr. Ilhan Refioglu, SpectraLinear’s president and CEO. “These new products give SpectraLinear the opportunity to offer versatile, innovative and high-performance timing solutions to the market.”
