Insyde Software, a provider of UEFI-based firmware, BIOS and engineering services, announced the availability of its royalty-free InsydeDIY(TM) EFI firmware solution for the Intel(R) Xeon processor and Intel(R) 3100 chipset development kit. This announcement extends Insyde’s coverage of Intel’s embedded architecture roadmap with InsydeDIY. The company’s InsydeH2O(TM) flagship product, a complete UEFI Framework solution, supports the entire Intel embedded silicon family. The new InsydeDIY(TM) firmware solution will be available at the end of August 2007.
InsydeDIY(TM) “Do-It-Yourself” EFI firmware solution is targeted at the embedded and communications market segments using Intel(R) architecture. It is aimed specifically towards embedded systems makers who do not need a complete BIOS implementation, and who want to develop a platform-specific set of initialization and boot code themselves.
“Insyde continues to enhance the InsydeDIY(TM) product offering,” explained Stephen Gentile, senior vice president of Insyde Software. “Our support of Intel’s development platforms – Mt. Arvon, Miscowabic and now Humphrey’s Peak – gives our mutual customers more hardware and firmware choices for their next generation embedded designs.”
The InsydeDIY(TM) solution is a lightweight and easy-to-implement set of firmware components that delivers unique value and benefits to embedded developers and solutions providers including:
- Reduced project development time with pre-packaged set of source and binary components.
- Compatibility with the industry’s latest EFI methods of booting an Operating System.
- Time-saving, built-in software debugger.
- A robust environment for running and managing pre-boot applications with improved boot speed.
- Easy migration to Insyde’s a full-featured UEFI Framework product, InsydeH2O(TM), for customers who’s needs grow beyond the scope of the InsydeDIY(TM) product.
