Volkswagen Uses Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder for AUTOSAR Deployment

The MathWorks, an AUTOSAR Premium Member and active work package participant, announced that Volkswagen has integrated a fully AUTOSAR-compliant comfort and convenience electronic control unit (ECU) into an existing Volkswagen ECU network for the first time by automatically generating the compliant software from Simulink(R) models with Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder(R).

RadiSys Promentum Media Resource Module Features Tundra Serial RapidIO

Tundra Semiconductor Corporation (TSX:TUN), the leader in System Interconnect, has announced that RadiSys Corporation, a leading global provider of advanced embedded solutions, has selected the Tundra Tsi578(TM) Serial RapidIO(R) Switch for its Promentum(TM) ATCA-9100 Media Resource Module. RadiSys recently launched the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) Digital Signal Processing (DSP) blade, which uses the Tsi578 as its Serial RapidIO interconnection for large-scale DSP aggregation.

Daesung-Eltec Selects Ramtron for DSP-based Car Audio Platform

Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR), a leading developer and supplier of non-volatile ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) and integrated semiconductor products, has announced that Daesung-Eltec Co. Ltd. of Korea has designed FRAM memory into its new digital signal processing (DSP)-based car audio platform. Daesung-Eltec selected the FM24C64 – a 64-kilobit FRAM with 2-wire serial interface – to enable sophisticated memory functions such as storing audio, channel and favourite artist/song settings, as well as the resume play and the favourite artist/song alert features. FRAM’s non-volatility, No Delay(TM) writes, virtually limitless endurance, small footprint and cost effectiveness make it the ideal memory technology for advanced digital automotive audio systems.

PDSi Receives Repair Contract for Storage Devices

Pinnacle Data Systems, Inc. (PDSi) (AMEX:PNS) announced that it has been awarded a new contract to be the sole repair depot within Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for a line of storage devices of a major computer Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). These contracted services include screening, out-of-warranty repair, and management of original vendors for in-warranty repair, and will begin to ramp up in the third quarter of 2007 and is expected to continue through 2009.

Texas Instruments Creates Smallest 2.25-MHz Step-down DC/DC Converters

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced its smallest 2.25-MHz high-performance, step-down DC/DC converters, which support low-power DSPs and microcontroller-based portable electronics. Extending battery life in Bluetooth headsets, cell phones and other Li-Ion battery-powered applications, the high-performance converters save valuable board space.

Connect One Unveils II-EVB-600 Evaluation Board for iChip CO2064

Cinea Licenses H.264 Codec Technology from Vanguard Software Solutions

Vanguard Software Solutions Inc (VSS), a provider of high performance codec technology for the professional video market, announced that Cinea Inc., a subsidiary of Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB), has licensed VSS current and future H.264 technology for its Running Marks(TM) video watermarking solution. The patented Cinea(R) architecture separates the processing-intensive image analysis stage from the message insertion stage, requiring a technology with extensible APIs to efficiently handle the complex H.264 decoding and encoding.

NFC Forum Reveals Four Tag Types for Near Field Communication
