ADC Makes Investment in ip.access

ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT) and ip.access, the market leader in 3G femtocell and GSM picocell technologies, announced that ADC has made a minority interest investment in ip.access Ltd. that strengthens the companies' alliance and supports the expansion of ip.access' product development. Terms of the investment were not disclosed.

ADC's investment follows an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement signed with ip.access in March of this year. Under terms of that agreement, ip.access' nanoGSM(R) technology was integrated into ADC's new FlexWave(TM) Base Station System (BSS), a self-contained, outdoor hardened, micro GSM base station solution. The FlexWave system, at the center of ADC's All-IP Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions, delivers standard GSM/EDGE service, but uses IP for backhaul. This provides simple and cost-effective enterprise and outdoor solutions for rural communities, hotspots and hole-fill coverage in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

"Recognizing the growing pressure wireless operators are under to provide the mobility and bandwidth capabilities their customers need, ADC invested in ip.access to accelerate the development of All-IP (RAN) wireless solutions," said Hilton Nicholson, president of the Active Infrastructure Business Unit at ADC. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to enhance our alliance and contribute to ip.access' success in leading 3G technology development."

"We are pleased to further enhance our relationship with ADC and work even more closely to bring 3G solutions to markets across the world," said Stephen Mallinson, CEO for ip.access. "We believe the company's backing and extensive experience will greatly benefit our business and the further expansion of our product development."
