Kenet Inc., a developer of revolutionary low-power, analog mixed-signal products, announced the release of a higher-speed member of its 8-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) product family. The new part, the KAD2708-350, operates at 350 million samples per second (MSPS). The company is also announcing the addition of CMOS outputs for lower-speed versions of its ADCs, further expanding the product family and broadening the value of the products across numerous applications.
The KAD2708, which set a new low-power benchmark for the ADC industry in 2006 when it was introduced with a sampling rate of 275 MSPS, now offers a top sampling rate of 350 MSPS. This new product – which still consumes over 30% less power than competitive parts while delivering a 75MSPS increase in sampling rates – is sampling now and will have production availability in Q3 2007.
Kenet also is now offering its lower-sample-rate ADCs in the KAD2700 family with CMOS outputs, in both the 8- and 10-bit versions. These new products operate at sampling rates of 100 and 150 MSPS. The CMOS products address the need for the lowest possible power consumption at lower sampling rates.

The FemtoCharge(R) analog signal-processing method used to develop these products is a result of more than ten years of research and development that is protected by nearly 30 patents. This innovative technology, developed by Kenet founder Dr. Gerhard (Gerry) Sollner and others at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory, provides high performance and ultra-low-power solutions that will play a critical role in the future growth of several cutting-edge telecommunications technologies, including mobile digital video systems, 10G over copper applications, and software-defined radio (SDR) systems.
About the KAD2708
The 8-bit, 350-MSPS KAD2708 is part of Kenet’s industry-leading family of low-power, pin-compatible ADCs. This includes three other 8-bit members, and three 10-bit family members, each operating at sample rates of 275, 210 and 170 MSPS. The KAD2708 maintains SNR greater than 48.5 dB with input signals up to 175 MHz and SFDR better than 68 dBc with an 80-MHz input. It features LVDS outputs for easy connections to FPGAs and is available in a 68-pin QFN package with exposed paddle. It is specified over the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85°C. Total power consumption is 320 mW at 350 MSPS.
