Gleichmann Announces Super-Transmissive Natural Light TFT LCD Module
Gleichmann Electronics presents a new 6.5-inch (17 cm diagonal) super-transmissive natural light TFT (ST-NLT)liquid crystal display (LCD) module using a white light emitting diode LED)for backlight.
The NEC Electronics module, part number NL10276BC13-01C, eliminates the need for an inverter circuit by employing a white light emitting diode (LED) for backlight instead of the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) that is traditionally used. This innovation produces low power consumption and a slim design that is lightweight. Typical power consumption is only 3.9 W, which is more than a 25 percent reduction compared with the previous 6.5-inch modules using CCFL backlights. The size of the NL10276BC13-01C module is only 153mm x 118mm x 9mm and weighs a mere 170g. Furthermore, because the NL10276BC13-01C is highly resistant to vibration and impact, it is ideal for use in portable display systems in industrial applications.
As with all NEC Electronics' super-transmissive natural light TFT (ST-NLT) LCD modules, the NL10276BC13-01C is able to display vivid colors in environments with high ambient light. Furthermore, because LED backlights are free of mercury, the new 6.5-inch TFT LCD module is more environmentally friendly than modules using CCFL backlights.
Samples of the NL10276BC13-01C are scheduled to be available at the end of June 2007.
