Nextreaming Launches Camcorder Solution for LoCosto Powered Handsets

Nextreaming, the leading provider of embedded multimedia software solutions for handset manufacturers, had successfully launched multimedia solutions for the “LoCosto” family by Texas Instruments, and deployed handsets using the “LoCosto” solution in the mass-phone market. With this successful deployment, Nextreaming holds firm grip as one of the first providers of camcording solution for the “LoCosto” platform with other multimedia solutions.

“TI’s “LoCosto” platform is becoming one of the most widely used chipsets in the world for low-end and mid-range handsets and camcorder has become an indispensable function for every segment of handsets,” said Nextreaming CEO IL-TAEK LIM, Ph.D. “This successful deployment will enable handset manufacturers to provide low-cost camcorder phones.”

“Nextreaming’s extensive experience on embedded codec and applications has contributed greatly in the successful deployment of camcorder applications based on the “LoCosto” platform,” said Markus Tremmel, worldwide wireless ecosystem manager for Texas Instruments. “We are very pleased that our customers can achieve camcorder functionality without additional external hardware.”

The solution and reference handsets are being demonstrated in Texas Instruments’ booth, Hall 4, room 203 A and B at the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2007, which runs June 5th – 9th in Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan).
