Renesas Rolls Out 32 New Microcontrollers

Renesas Technology America, Inc. announced a significant expansion of the popular M16C family of 16-bit microcontrollers, adding 12 M16C/64 group models and 20 M16C/65 group models for car audio, home audio, and similar consumer products, as well as industrial applications. The new devices, successors to those in the current M16C/62P group, offer the flexibility customers need to quickly implement system functional enhancements and version upgrades of embedded system designs. The new microcontrollers are fully compatible with the previous-generation products, maximizing the value of customers’ engineering investments.

Cypress Hosts Capacitive Sensing Interface Webinar

Addonics Announces Diamond Hard Drive Kit with Built-In eSATA/SATA

Addonics Technologies announced a hard drive kit with built-in eSATA and SATA connectors, which allow users to easily connect an external SATA hard drive to a system or use any SATA hard drive as a removable cartridge drive. Addonics’ Diamond Hard Drive Kit is the first enclosure to feature built-in eSATA/SATA connectors as well as provide the first direct bridge design, which connects the SATA hard drive to the computer in native SATA mode.

KLA-Tencor Unveils LithoWare for Developing RETa, OPCa Processes

KLA-Tencor (NASDAQ:KLAC) introduced LithoWare, a new Linux-based product enabling semiconductor circuit designers to dramatically reduce the time and cost to develop RETa and OPCa processes. LithoWare is a lithography optimization tool based on the industry-standard PROLITH models that reduces time-to-production by allowing customers to co-optimize the RET and the process conditions simultaneously, while minimizing calibration data collection.

Texas Instruments Licenses Sonic CinePlayer CE Navigator

Sonic Solutions(R) (NASDAQ:SNIC) announced an agreement to license its Sonic(R) CinePlayer(R) CE Navigator to Texas Instruments (NYSE:TXN). TI will offer CinePlayer Navigator with DaVinci(TM) processors, the world’s most advanced semiconductor for next generation digital video products. The agreement extends the reach of Sonic technology, which will provide core interactive functionality for DaVinci processors in a vast array of digital video applications, such as videophones, automotive infotainment, digital still cameras, streaming media, IP set-top boxes, and video security systems.
