T3G to Integrate Red Bend's FOTA into Mobile Phone Reference Design

Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management and Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) updating solutions for mobile phones and modules, announced an agreement with T3G Technology, a leading TD-SCDMA handset chipset maker, to integrate Red Bend’s market-leading FOTA solution onto T3G’s mobile phone reference design platform.

Under the agreement, Red Bend will integrate its vCurrent(R) Mobile FOTA client software onto T3G’s platform. The addition of Red Bend’s FOTA solution will allow T3G’s manufacturer customers to deliver fast, secure and reliable firmware updates over-the-air to mobile phones in consumers’ hands. T3G’s handset reference design supports handset makers with their commercial product development. It supports TD-SCDMA/GSM dual mode and includes mature and complete software and hardware interface definitions, as well as the reference and testing platform for commercial handset development.

“Keeping mobile phone software up-to-date throughout the device lifecycle and service contract is increasingly important to mobile phone manufacturers and operators, especially as they invest in creating a unique brand experience,” said Mr. Mike Mu, Director of Business Development Department of T3G. “The addition of Red Bend’s vCurrent Mobile FOTA software to the T3G reference design platform will give our customers an edge in creating a rich mobile user experience that will build consumer loyalty.”

Red Bend’s vCurrent Mobile enables mobile phone manufacturers and operators to deploy and install updated firmware over-the-air. The patented software identifies the essential changes from an existing version of firmware to a new, updated version. vCurrent Mobile, which has been adopted by seven of the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers across 76 phone models, generates extremely compact firmware updates that can be rapidly and cost-effectively delivered onto the handset with 100% accuracy.

“Our agreement with T3G represents our 15th design win with platform providers,” said Yoram Salinger, CEO of Red Bend Software. “With the majority of the world’s platform providers choosing Red Bend, it proves the value of our mobile software management solutions as a must-have feature for mass market mobile phones.”
