Ponte Solutions(TM), a DFM solutions company, announced its Building Bridges(TM) Partner Program, designed to foster cooperation among all groups within the semiconductor ecosystem, including semiconductor fabricators, EDA vendors, standards organizations, and academia.
“The goal of the Building Bridges Partner Program is to create an environment where teams from various companies and disciplines can come together to develop solutions our mutual customers demand,” said Alex Alexanian, Ponte’s president and CEO. “In addition, Building Bridges is striving to drive industry standardization efforts to ensure faster customer adoption and to support integration of 3rd party tools into DFM flows and solutions.”
Initial supporters of the Building Bridges Partner Program include all the major foundries; Blaze DFM from EDA; and Taiwan’s ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute), a national center for technology advancement and R&D. Members of Ponte’s Building Bridges Partner Program share software tools and support for the development of comprehensive joint solutions that have been validated by the member companies.
“Customers expect DFM solutions that not only identify a problem, but also resolve it without causing other errors or defects,” said Dave Reed, vice president of marketing at Blaze DFM. “The Building Bridges program will provide users with the combined benefits of our electrical analysis and optimization, alongside Ponte’s critical area analysis and deep manufacturing knowledge.”
As part of the Building Bridges Program, foundry DFM data kits for customers have been validated and inspected for data consistency and correctness. Other benefits include combined promotion and marketing efforts, and a unified front for the various industry standards each set of companies agree to jointly support.
“Chartered has long promoted an open model for the industry to benefit customers, and we are pleased to see the formation of Building Bridges, which is the type of program that understands the need for interaction with the entire semiconductor ecosystem,” said Walter Ng, senior director of platform alliances at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing. “As part of the Common Platform, we work with our technology partners and EDA vendors to offer choice, and we see standards efforts as key to the success of our industry. We applaud Ponte’s efforts.”
