Workshop for Women in Design Automation Announces Student Sponsorship
The Workshop for Women in Design Automation (WWINDA), part of the 44th Design Automation Conference (DAC) to be held at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, June 4–8, 2007, announced that its student sponsorship program will enable graduate students to attend the workshop and DAC thanks to the generous support of key members of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) community. These sponsorships cover travel and workshop registration, and have been awarded to six graduate students in electrical engineering, computer science, and computer engineering from U.C. Berkeley, U.C. San Diego, University of Pittsburgh, and Stanford. The WWINDA student sponsorship supporters include Cadence Design Systems, EDA Confidential, Magma Design Automation and Mentor Graphics.

WiMAX World Europe – Final Day
The closing day of WiMAX World Europe’s conference program opened with Dr. Mo Shakouri, VP, Corporate Strategy Alvarion, Board Member and Vice President, Marketing for the WiMAX Forum, who provided delegates with a view of the diverse needs of the EMEA market as well as an update on the WiMAX Forum’s activities. Dr. Shakouri expressed concern that Western European nations could become laggards in implementation of mobile WiMAX networks if changes to spectrum regulation are not undertaken. He further encouraged vendors and the WiMAX Forum to focus on both the interoperability and delivery of low cost devices.
