Micrium RTOS Supports AMCC PowerPC 405EZ Processor

Posted by EDA Geek News Staff in Microcontrollers, RTOS on Friday, April 6, 2007

Micrium, a leading provider of high quality embedded software components for consumer, industrial and military applications, announced that its uC/OS-II real time operating system (RTOS) has been successfully ported to Applied Micro Circuits Corporation's (AMCC) PowerPC 405EZ Acadia platform. The RTOS provides excellent source code at a competitive price and will be included in AMCC's Acadia Evaluation Kit.

"We believe that features of uC/OS-II are well matched to the requirements of the industrial control and industrial automation markets for which the 405EZ was designed," said Charlie Ashton, director of software at AMCC. " We look forward to a successful partnership with Micrium around this platform."

uC/OS-II is a highly portable, ROMable, scalable, preemptive, real-time, multitasking kernel, written in ANSI C. It is a cost-effective, royalty-free RTOS that meets the demanding requirements of the RTCA DO-178B standard for software used in avionics equipment. uC/OS-II comes with excellent documentation and customer support.

"The PowerPC market represents a continually increasing share of our market," stated Jean Labrosse, president of Micrium. "Bringing uC/OS-II support to AMCC's 405EZ processor allows us to support a solid chipset as well as to grow our own PowerPC portfolio."
