ODM Demands Denali's Mobile DDR Memory for Portable Video Devices

Denali Software, Inc., a world-leading provider of electronic design automation (EDA) software and intellectual property (IP), announced that ON DEMAND Microelectronics (ODM), a leading supplier of video solutions for mobile and high-definition digital TV- and video applications, used Denali’s Databahn(TM) mobile DDR memory controller IP and PHY solution in its SVEN mobile (SVENm) multimedia chip which delivers extremely high processing power and at the same time meets low power requirements.

Denali’s Databahn memory system solution helps ODM’s developers rapidly deploy mobile DDR memory systems in their chip for use in portable products such as multimedia players, smartphones, wireless access points with IPTV extensions and video conferencing systems.

“Denali’s high quality mobile DDR memory solutions help us meet critical power and chip size requirements for portable devices,” said Gerald Krottendorfer, CTO of ODM. “Denali contributed significantly to our high-performance, low power, fully programmable SVEN mobile processor platform that delivers high quality video functionalities such as video encoding and decoding brilliantly sharp TV and video images for a wide variety of applications. With Denali’s IP for leading DDR2 and mobile DDR devices in our industry-leading technology, our customers can be assured of high-quality deliverables designed for reliable system-on-chip (SoC) integration.”

The Databahn IP product includes a comprehensive infrastructure for configuring, analyzing, and generating the optimal memory controller for a given customer application. Denali’s Databahn DDR memory controllers offer a powerful, multi-port solution with configurable features and functionality to satisfy system performance requirements in terms of bandwidth, latency, and power reduction.

“Mobile SoCs require specialized DDR memory systems to achieve low power, high performance, and fast time-to-market,” said Brian Gardner, Vice President of IP Products for Denali. “The Databahn DDR controller and PHY are proven solutions for the mobile market, and offer the configurability and tuning needed for multi-media applications. We are excited to enable ODM, to provide state-of-the-art portable device platforms and solutions.”

About ODM
ON DEMAND Microelectronics (ODM) offers most powerful video/audio IC solutions for the global mobile multimedia and digital television market. ODM’s fully software programmable products are based on the revolutionary Vector Signal Processor (VSP). This multi standard video engine offers enormous processing power at extremely low power consumption, and in combination with the added benefit of scalability, the VSP enables the first single chip solution dedicated to the portal media player and digital mobile TV market. The modular design of the VSP allows ODM partners under fierce competitive pressure to differentiate their products from that of their competitors by responding to new requirements with a reduced time-to-market. ODM is headquartered in Vienna, Austria and has offices in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and in the US.
