ST Implements First 65nm Dual HD Mpeg-4 Decoder with Cadence

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) said the Cadence Encounter digital IC design platform and system-in-package (SiP) design technology were integral to the successful implementation of STMicroelectronics’ industry-first, 65-nanometer STi7200, a high-performance, dual high-definition (HD) decoder for digital consumer applications such as set-top boxes, high-definition DVDs (dual-standard Blu-ray and HD-DVD) and digital TVs. The development reinforces Cadence’s position as the leading EDA partner for high-end 65nm system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA ) and other advanced wireless technologies, and 4G Systems GmbH (“4G Systems”), a QUALCOMM WCDMA and TD-SCDMA modem card and router licensee, announced that the companies have entered into an OFDM/OFDMA license agreement. Under the terms of the royalty-bearing agreement, QUALCOMM has licensed 4G Systems to develop, manufacture and sell OFDM/OFDMA modem card and router products for high-speed broadband wireless access, as well as external modems and products for machine-to-machine communications and telematics.
