DVS to Showcases 4K in Real Time at NAB

DVS products will be showcased with their new feature sets at the DVS booth SL2608. The turnkey systems CLIPSTER(R), Pronto2K.2/ProntoHD.2, DVS-SAN, as well as Spycer(R) are equipped with high-resolution film sequences for product demos. The OEM boards are available with a new SDK. Interested customers can determine on location how the boards “made in Germany” optimize the systems of other manufacturers.

A new feature set in the DI workstation CLIPSTER(R) now allows the customer to accomplish zoom & pan, cropping as well as primary color correction in 4K – in real time. Furthermore, the DVS flagship is able to perform DCI mastering: JPEG2000 is the defined codec that CLIPSTER(R) can finalize and play out in real time. Playlists are also specified in the Digital Cinema: they can be created in the timeline of CLIPSTER(R). The newest CLIPSTER(R) generation will be introduced at the exhibition in Las Vegas. The NAB visitors will come to know the latest news and features at the show.

DVS also unveils Spycer(R), the innovative data manager, in a Linux version at NAB 2007. The graphical user interface (GUI) enables the support of over 100 different formats.

The central storage DVS-SAN achieves a higher performance via new RAID controllers. The storage system offers additional functional extensions through its integrated proxy servers, that generate among others MPEG preview proxies and proxies for offline editing.

All OEM boards are provided with a new SDK that allows the assignment of independent I/O links as separate audio and video streams. Centaurus II now performs conversion into the X’Y'Z’ color space and enables scaling. The new JPEG2000 board allows uncompressed output as well as decompression of material from JPEG2000 for Digital Cinema. These processes for SD, HD and 2K happen in real time. The data is available as RGB, YUV or X’Y'Z’ material in MXF or JP2 files.

The software and hardware manufacturer DVS is based in Hanover, Germany and Los Angeles, USA achieved sustained success in 2006. DVS presented another milestone in its software development: the innovative data manager Spycer(R) was announced “Pick of Show award from IBC 2006″. In the same year a new line of disk recorders came to market: Pronto2K.2 and ProntoHD.2 enable real-time multi-resolution capture and play-out combined with full conforming. Besides its turnkey solutions, DVS also focuses on its successful OEM-business. The successor of the popular Centaurus(R) board, Centaurus II, is available since late 2006. The special highlight of Centaurus II: along with CLIPSTER(R) it easily manages 4K. With this the German company strengthens its role as a leading-edge pioneer in the 4K field.

Post production houses both large and small worldwide and the broadcast industry, too, have DVS products in daily operation. R&D departments also use DVS systems for their development work of multimedia applications. Moreover, DVS has teamed up with ARRI, Kodak, FujiTV, Imagica and The Mill. The company has a large OEM customer base as well: numerous leaders in the industry integrate DVS’ powerful video I/O boards into their own products, thus enhancing their performance.
