Aero Simulation Upgrades Navy with Quantum3D Models

Posted by Ken Cheung in Models, Simulations on Tuesday, February 27, 2007

Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), open architecture, realtime 3-Dimensional (3D) visual computing solutions, announced that Aero Simulation, Inc. (ASI), selected Quantum3D IDX 3000 and Facets Models and related database environments as part of the Navy’s upgrade to the Landing Signal Officer Trainer (LSOT).

The LSOT provides a safe, controlled environment for concentrated, hands-on LSO training for individuals and teams. The LSOT allows critical training without endangering aircraft, personnel or flight support equipment. It provides trainees with technology to practice coordination procedures and allows them to experience complex concepts involved in the recovery of combat aircraft aboard an aircraft carrier. The simulator has the capability to train personnel to handle a wide variety of emergency conditions and replicate malfunctions to accommodate the level and complexity required to fully prepare the landing signal officer for operational duty.

Quantum3D’s IDX 3000 provides the most comprehensive set of essential Image Generator (IG) features available in the industry today, including complete compatibility with important visual simulation standards, optional “four-nines” (99.99 percent) of effective availability, unmatched technology insertion capabilities and low total cost of ownership, as well as industry-leading image quality, visual acuity and performance.

Quantum3D also provides state-of-the-art models and special effects in the LSOT, adding quality, flexibility and dramatically enhanced realism. Facets Models are delivered with multiple levels of detail (LOD) and highly realistic tri-resolution textures. These Quantum3D technologies are providing the ASI LSOT with the most advanced visual simulation available for training and mission-rehearsal applications available today.

“Quantum3D is grateful for ASI’s confidence in selecting Quantum3D as a partner in upgrading the LSOT. We value the partnership that will allow us to contribute to this high-tech solution for signal officer training for the U.S. Navy,” said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D president.

Independence IDX 3000 ER – Sensor Simulation Solutions
IDX 3000 provides scalable, COTS, open-architecture, realtime, dynamic, physics-based, per-texel solutions for correlated high-fidelity, realtime, multispectral sensor simulation, training and mission-rehearsal applications that require 8- or 16-bits of end-to-end dynamic range.

Facets Realtime 3D Models
Facets Realtime 3D Models are unique in the off-the-shelf modeling marketplace and provide the ultimate in quality, flexibility and affordability. Facets Models are delivered with multiple levels of detail and highly realistic tri-resolution textures. Where applicable, Facets Models come equipped with multiple paint schemes, a synthetic infrared sensor scheme, damaged/destroyed states, articulated parts and animations. The Facets Collection includes Aircraft, Automobiles, Armored Vehicles, Ships and Missiles to name a few. New models are being added continuously.
