Adeneo, a Microsoft Windows Embedded Gold partner with facilities in Europe and in the USA, released to market during the Embedded World Fair at Nuremberg, the official Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 BSPs for all the 3 ARM9 based chips from Atmel: AT91SAM9260, AT91SAM9261 and AT91SAM9263. These BSPs, fully compliant with Atmel’s EK development kits, implement most of the features of each chip, and are the key starting points for OEMs developing smart Windows Embedded CE based devices. Also, the coverage of the complete SAM926x family ensures OEM to have a solution for any type of device, from very low cost communication devices up to multimedia products requiring high graphical performance.
Olivier PEQUET, CEO of Adeneo Group says, “This is one step further in our position as a “Go Between” for Microsoft and Silicon Vendors like Atmel. With more than 250 engineers with a unique dual expertise, both in hardware and software design, we bring a global answer to OEMs seeking the best time-to-market and cost-effective solutions for their embedded developments.”
Yannick CHAMMING’S, General Manager of Windows Embedded activity at Adeneo, and CEO of Adeneo America, comments: “This new release, combined with our new facilities in North America, allows us to bring our strong support on Windows Embedded CE technology not only in Europe, but also from a worldwide point of view. Furthermore, the situation of our US offices, only a couple of miles from Microsoft headquarters is a warranty to our customers of our strong position in the Windows Embedded ecosystem as one of the key partners of Microsoft.”
Jean-Christophe ZETTEL, Application Manager for Atmel’s ARM-based microcontroller products, commented: “These releases of WinCE 6.0 BSPs for all the AT91SAM9 products are the results of the long-term partnership Atmel has with Adeneo. They come at the earliest time after Microsoft has introduced Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and offer up-to-date solutions to Atmel’s and Microsoft customers. On top of that, the combination of the features of Windows Embedded operating system, the availability of the BSPs for Atmel’s products and the hardware and software services that Adeneo offers provides the best time-to-market solutions to our customers.”
“Adeneo is one of the clear leaders in the growing Windows Embedded partner ecosystem that is delivering on our joint promise of innovation and rapid time to market for device designs” said Ilya Bukshteyn, Director of Windows Embedded Marketing in the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. “As a Gold Windows Embedded partner, Adeneo is working closely with us and the embedded community to develop next generation tools based on both Windows Embedded CE 6.0 technology and the ARM chipset. This typifies our partners’ continuous innovation on the Windows Embedded platform.”
PQOAL compliance for the easiest adaptation to custom designs – Because of its compliance with Microsoft PQOAL (Production-Quality OEM Adaptation Layer) and PQD (Production Quality Device) specifications, these BSPs are the most cost-effective way to develop custom solutions on Atmel Chips under Windows Embedded CE with the minimal redesign. Only the portions of the BSPs handling board features need to be reviewed and redesigned and all code linked to the core CPU can be reused without modifications.
Fully-featured to cover all customer applications – The BSPs include all the drivers for the peripherals integrated in SAM926x chips. This allows targeting all types of custom solutions. The BSPs cover MMI features (display with 2D HW accelerations, keyboard, mouse, touch screen, audio, etc.), communications (serial, Ethernet, USB, SPI, 2-wire, etc.) and storage (NAND and NOR Flash, SDCard, etc.), with many boot strategies.
Strong reliability to warrant the best quality – The BSPs have been qualified using the CETK (Windows CE official test kit), and have been designed to take full advantage of the advanced features of the AT91SAM926x such as Multi-Layer AHB, Peripheral DMA Controller, Advanced Interrupt Controller, etc.
