Gleichmann Electronics will present NEC Electronics’ six new All Flash microcontrollers (MCUs) for demanding inverter control systems in Hall 12, Booth 466 at embedded world 2007 in Nuremberg, February 13-15, 2007.
Compared to NEC Electronics’ previous generation of inverter control MCUs, the new V850E/IG3 and V850E/IF3 devices feature much higher performance and greater precision. For example, the new devices feature a four-fold increase in resolution of the A/D converter that detects motor rotation (4,096 discrete values, 12 bits). In addition, four operational amplifiers (op amps) for signal amplification are integrated. The gain ratios of these op amps that adjust the level of motor status signals have a gain ratio of x2.5 to x10 and are variable in 13 steps. The comparator that protects a system from motor faults can detect overvoltages, and also measure undervoltage with respect to a reference level.
A voltage-generating regulator IC, a reset IC to initialize the microcontroller when it is powered on and a low-voltage indicator (LVI) circuit to detect low voltage are integrated on chip. With the integration of formerly discrete components, these new devices allow designers to achieve inverter control at lower costs and with fewer parts.
Samples of the V850E/Ix3 series are available now. Volume production is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2007.
