Posted by Ken Cheung in Wireless on Wednesday, February 7, 2007

Winwap Technologies Oy, specialists in providing mobile Internet browsers (WAP) and multimedia messaging (MMS) software, and RV Technology Limited, wireless specialists focusing on the development and design of wireless handheld terminals, announce the availability of Winwap’s WAP Browser and MMS Client for wireless devices designed by RV Technology Limited.

Winwap has ported and customized their WinWAP Browser and WinWAP MMS Client to devices designed by RV Tec to provide WAP and web service access and MMS functionality.

RV Tec plans to integrate the WinWAP Browser and MMS Client applications in GSM and WiFi devices designed by RV Tec. The WinWAP Browser is a WAP 2.0 mobile Internet browser application that provides access to WAP and web services using the WAP 2.0 protocols over a WAP Gateway or Proxy. The WAP browser provides Telecom Operators the means for generating additional revenue for services and downloadable products like ring tones or wallpapers, as well as the ability for end users to browse the traditional and mobile Internet. The WinWAP MMS client is a full Multimedia Messaging Client that provides a powerful interface for both reading and writing simple and advanced multimedia messages and sending and receiving using the standard MM1 protocol.

“To be included in cutting edge devices designed by RV Technology Limited is yet another big step towards our goal of having our software as part of as many different device designs as possible, and we will continue our efforts in providing RV Technology Limited with the best possible solutions for WAP Browsing and Multimedia Messaging for their current and future devices,” said Mikael Krogius, CEO, Winwap Technologies.

“RV Tec designs each handset model always with the customers’ interests in mind and we feel that the Winwap’s Browser and MMS Client are good solutions to recommend to our OEM customers. The inclusion of Winwap’s WAP Browser and MMS Client will enhance our overall MMI offering to customers and is consistent with our objective to give customers maximum flexibility in choosing their own combination of MMI suite to put on an advance OS platform,” said Flora Pong, COO of RV Technology Limited.
