QuickLogic Offers Smaller Packaging for PolarPro, Eclipse II FPGAs

QuickLogic(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:QUIK), the lowest power programmable logic leader, announced that devices in the PolarPro(TM) and Eclipse(TM) II FPGA families are now available in 6×6 mm and 8×8 mm small form factor packages. The advanced packaging meets the aggressive requirements of handheld electronics integrating storage, wireless, mobile TV and other emerging technologies.

The PolarPro family members, QL1P075, QL1P100, QL1P200 and QL1P300 and the Eclipse II QL8150 are available in 8×8 mm packages while the Eclipse II QL8050 is packaged in a 6×6 mm package. Designers using these new small form factor packages can not only optimize the overall system cost and battery life, but they also benefit greatly by integrating more functionality into significantly less board space. Both the QuickWorks(R) 9.8.2 design tools and System General programming tools support these new packages.

“Handheld device manufacturers continue to have time-to-market, cost, battery life and PCB area constraints. QuickLogic continues to deliver innovative solutions that solve these fundamental challenges,” said Brian Faith, QuickLogic’s Senior Director of Marketing. “In short, we’ve made it our goal to address the critical issues of the portable designer.”
