Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced that Mitch Little, vice president of worldwide sales and applications, was honored with a Stevie(R) Award in the “Worldwide VP of Sales of the Year” category in The 2006 Selling Power Sales Excellence Awards. Additionally, Microchip’s worldwide sales organization was named a finalist in the “Global Sales Team of the Year” category.
The new awards were jointly presented by Selling Power magazine, the leading sales management publication with 145,000 subscribers in 67 countries, and The Stevie Awards, which have been hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars” by the New York Post (April 27, 2005). Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” winners were announced during a gala banquet at the Westin Casuarina Hotel, Spa & Casino in Las Vegas. More than 230 sales executives from around the world attended. More than 300 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, this year.
This prestigious award honored Mitch Little and the Microchip sales team for their significant achievements during the past year, including the effective addition of nearly 30% more sales and applications resources to the global team, at all levels. Little also created and lead the restructuring of a global channel network, which refocused all parties on their appropriate level of demand creation and set payment structures to support these levels. Further, Little and his team established new elements and structures within the demand-creation resources around the world that engaged design houses and manufacturer’s reps in new, effective and focused methods.
“Mitch Little stands alone in the semiconductor industry, having successfully implemented a no-commission sales force when many thought it couldn’t be done,” said Steve Sanghi, president and CEO of Microchip. “Our customers operate in their design-to-production processes over multiple locations and functions. Incentivizing our sales force with bonuses tied to worldwide sales goals, instead of individual commissions, creates a unified team dedicated to supporting our customers everywhere.”
Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie Award winners from among the finalists. Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide, during preliminary judging.
The elegant Stevie trophy was designed by R. S. Owens, the same company that makes the Oscar and the Emmy.
“We congratulate all of the Stevie winners and finalists in the first annual Selling Power Sales Excellence Awards for their historic accomplishments,” said Gerhard Gschwandtner, founder and publisher of Selling Power magazine. “As these awards grow in entries and visibility over the years, these companies will be able to look back with pride and say that they were the first-ever winners of these coveted awards.”
