Chipworks Inc., the industry leader in reverse engineering and analysis of semiconductor chips and microelectronic systems, today announced an aggressive expansion drive in the Asia Pacific region with the opening of a new office and the appointment of two industry veterans to executive roles.
Chipworks this month, opened its fourth office in Asia Pacific in Osaka, Japan, and appointed industry veteran Mr. Taiso Kazuta to serve as the company’s Sales and Business Developer to lead the new operations. The Osaka office complements Chipworks’ well-established Tokyo operations. It provides increased levels of service in response to the growing demand for technical competitive analysis and intellectual property support in the Kansai region of the country – home to many renowned international electronics giants.
In Greater China, Chipworks has appointed Richard Wu as Director of Sales for the company’s office in Taipei, Taiwan. With this hiring, Chipworks aims to provide its customers – major semiconductor companies – with ongoing superior levels of technical expertise, customer service and support.
“This expansion responds directly to escalating demand for Chipworks’ competitive technical analysis and patent support services in the highly competitive Asia Pacific region,” says Terry Ludlow, Chipworks CEO and founder. “As defensive and offensive patent strategies continue to evolve for Asia Pacific based companies, Chipworks is ready to support customers as they develop new designs, assert their patents or protect their revenues against licensing aggressors.”
Revenues from Taiwan’s semiconductor market are expected to grow to more than USD $60 billion by 2009 as reported in TMCnet. In Japan, there is an increase in litigation and a move towards more assertive patent licensing strategies.
“The Asia-Pacific region is home to many of Chipworks valued customers and continues to be a major source of growth for the Company,” adds Ludlow. “We are poised for further growth in the Asia Pacific region and look forward to building long term relationships with these customers and working closely with them to achieve their business goals.”
