National Technical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTSC) (NTS), a leading provider of engineering services, announced today that they have been selected by Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, to provide compliance testing to the ZigBee(TM) wireless standard.
Testing will be performed in accordance with the ZigBee Compliant Platform certification program. NTS has played a key role in developing the ZigBee certification program and associated ZigBee Alliance policies. The ZigBee Alliance has designated NTS as one of only two compliance test centers to certify platforms and future end products utilizing ZigBee technology.
In addition to compliance testing, the selection of NTS provides Microchip with access to ZigTest, a custom developed agnostic test application which simplifies the validation of the IEEE-802.15.4 MAC, ZCP and ZNC test requirements as outlined in the ZigBee standards, as well as the IEEE-802.15.4 specifications. The NTS ZigTest product will allow Microchip Technology to debug and perform internal validation of their ZigBee products, ensuring successful compliance testing in the lab.
“NTS looks forward to the opportunity to assist Microchip, a leading ZigBee semiconductor manufacturer, in the testing and certification of their products,” comments Osman Sakr, Chief Technology Officer of NTS. “In addition, we are glad to be able to provide them with ZigTest to shorten their development cycle, while increasing the likelihood of quick certification of their products.”
National Technical Systems, Inc. is a leading provider of engineering services to the defense, aerospace, telecommunications, automotive and high technology markets. Through a worldwide network of resources, NTS provides full product life-cycle support, offering world class design engineering, compliance, testing, certification, quality registration and program management.
