CoWare Joins Symbian Platinum Partner Program

CoWare(R), Inc., the leading supplier of platform-driven electronic system-level (ESL) design software and services, today announced that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for Symbian OS(tm). As a Platinum Partner, CoWare is extending its virtual platform for software development solution to the Symbian ecosystem.

Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the operating system that powers today’s most popular smartphones. Symbian OS is licensed by the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers and to date over 83 million Symbian smartphones have shipped worldwide to over 250 mobile network operators.

CoWare Virtual Platform product family delivers the tools and technologies that support the creation, distribution, and use of virtual hardware platforms for software development, system integration, and test. Virtual hardware platforms are models of the device hardware and the environment it evolves in. They also enable electronics companies to engage more effectively with their customers and ecosystem partners.

“The explosive uptake of smartphones worldwide has driven the need for robust development tools, with a particular emphasis on tools that offer state-of-the-art virtualization of hardware running in software, as such tools accelerate product time-to-market and decrease development costs,” said Jerry Panagrossi, vice president of U.S. operations, Symbian. “We are delighted to welcome CoWare to the Symbian Platinum Program, as this partnership underscores our joint commitment to bringing new software development approaches and technologies to the ever-growing Symbian OS ecosystem.”

“In today’s rapidly growing smartphone market CoWare has the opportunity to make a major contribution to the development of advanced mobile phones,” says Marc Serughetti, CoWare director of marketing. “By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can now expand our solution and strengthen our relationships with software development, system integration, and test teams, and ensure they have access to a comprehensive and integrated solution for Symbian OS-based designs.”
