The ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer utilizes the energy-saving advantages of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor, which blends high bandwidth with the higher energy and execution efficiency of the traditional NetBurst Microarchitecture (Pentium(R) 4 processor) and Mobile Microarchitecture (Pentium(R) M processor), and innovations such as wide dynamic execution, intelligent memory access, advanced power capability, multi-core optimized cache and single-cycle SSE/2/3.
Available now, Portwell’s newly architectured ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer with Intel(R) Core 2 Duo(R) processor up to 65W TDP, a considerable Improvement in low power consumption than the socket 478 processor up to 84W TDP. This lower power consumption combined with greater computing power and network bandwidth makes the ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer the ideal solution for applications in medical equipment, industrial automation, kiosk, process control, semiconductor equipment, and network security markets.
Cost-savings across the board
“The lower power consumption inherent in our new ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer means that companies with mission-critical applications operating 24/7 can actually save money,” says Jack Lam, American Portwell Technology’s senior product marketing manager. “But we didn’t stop there. We ramped up the computing power, and we made sure it was easy for our customers to upgrade their existing single board computer system to the new ROBO-8717VG2A.”
Backward processor compatible
Portwell’s ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer supports Intel Core 2 Duo,
Pentium(R) D, Pentium(R) 4, or Celeron D in an LGA775 socket that is equipped with dual-core, hyper-threading, EM64T, EIST, XD and VT technologies. “With the launch of the new ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer, this is the optimum time for customers to take advantage of the reliability and extra computing power the Intel Core 2 Duo can bring to their projects, now and in the future,” comments Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing director.
“The ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer is a PICMG 1.0 PCI/ISA single host board that adopts the Intel(R) Q965 Express chipset,” explains Shen. “This is the latest Intel chipset and supports the Intel(R) Core 2 Duo(R) processor, which has speeds of up to 1066 MHz.” Portwell’s new ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer also features with 4 GB DDR2-800 memory capacity.
“The Q965 chipset is also embedded with the fourth generation Intel(R) integrated graphics controller, and a Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 that supports DirectX 9.0, Shader Model 2.0, and 256 MB of video memory,” adds Shen.
Higher bandwidth and enriched I/Os
Portwell’s ROBO-8717VG2A single board computer includes PCI Express x1, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, and four SATA 300 connectors for increased bandwidth, plus: six USB 2.0 ports; dual serial ports and a parallel port; GPIO; and Watchdog timer.
