AeroAstro Acquires Signal Research Corporation (SRC)

AeroAstro, Inc., a microsatellite technology and communications pioneer, today announced that it has acquired the majority of the assets of Signal Research Corporation (SRC), a Colorado-based provider of unique, high-value intelligence and space solutions. The acquisition extends AeroAstro’s capabilities into space-based payloads, radios, communications, signal detection and space systems.

“Both companies were founded to reduce the cost and the complexity of space systems and components and thus make them more useful to a broader constituency in existing and new applications,” said Dr. Rick Fleeter, CEO, AeroAstro. “We believe that the synergies in the two companies’ technological innovations and philosophical approach will make us more effective in our mission.”

SRC’s office in Littleton, Colorado, along with the recent opening of an office in Albuquerque, New Mexico, gives AeroAstro a strong regional presence and the means to better meet the needs of its western U.S. customers.

As part of the acquisition, Craig Gravelle, SRC’s founder and Chief Operating Officer, will join AeroAstro as Vice President of Business Development. As a member of AeroAstro’s upper management team, Gravelle’s primary responsibilities are to generate new business, form strategic partnerships, develop new customers and support AeroAstro’s continued growth strategy in addition to overall corporate management.

Gravelle has over 25 years of space system development and advanced programs experience. Before joining AeroAstro, he worked for companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 global aerospace firms. As SRC’s COO, Gravelle was responsible for strategic planning, business development and operations. Gravelle also held key operations and business development positions with Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics.

This experience includes Director of Strategic Planning for Spectrum Astro and Vice President & General Manager of Space and Surveillance for General Dynamics Electronic Systems.

“Craig brings a combination of highly relevant experience, a knack for finding innovative solutions, and the drive to make them a reality,” Fleeter said. “Craig makes a valuable addition to our talented executive team.”
