Informa Telecoms and Media, the leading provider of business intelligence and strategic services to the global telecoms and media markets, announced that over 150 of the world’s leading mobile communications technology vendors will take part in its annual GSM>3G Africa conference & exhibition taking place on 19-20 October 2006, at the International Convention Center in Cape Town, South Africa.
An updated showroom design will allow exhibitors and visitors to maximize their time, with opportunities for hands-on demonstrations and interactive presentations. New for 2006 are the online & mobile device networking tools which will enable attendees to make contact and arrange meetings pre, during and post show.
“The event is an ideal platform for the leading vendors, software developers and operators to establish key partnerships,” said Informa’s Marketing Manager Steve Cassidy. “With last year’s conference delivering 48% operator attendance the possibilities for companies participating in this year’s exhibition are boundless. For new entrants, and those who already have a global footprint alike, our exhibitors will benefit from a highly targeted, high-level and business focused audience with whom to do business.”
A range of regional and international companies will participate in the exhibition, displaying their latest technologies, network equipment, software, content and management solutions. Global telecom vendors like Motorola, Blackberry, Nokia and Siemens will exhibit alongside companies known in Africa, such as the South Africa-based technology group Saab Grintek and the systems provider Africa Recharge.
With several additional features for 2006, the exhibition floor will again provide a unique forum for the international vendor and operator community to exchange regionally focused business ideas and information. Different zones will offer exhibitors and attendees the opportunities to focus on specific aspects of the African market.
“The Satellite Zone will allow vendors associated with mobile satellite communication technologies the chance to showcase their current and innovative technology solutions to the operators from the Pan-African region,” Mr. Cassidy said. “The development potential will see this zone become a key area of interaction at the event.”
A free exhibition seminar theater will provide exhibitors space for 30-minute presentations with audio and visual display capabilities giving exhibition visitors an informal and spontaneous opportunity to learn about companies and their brand-new solutions.
“This event provides a fantastic, digestible overview of the current and future state of play for the communications market,” said Informa’s Senior Researcher Mr Jordan Stone. “Africa is collection of markets at vastly different stages of development. Each opportunity for interaction between them is incredibly important for their coordination, especially given the pace at which new or upgraded technology is becoming available to different service providers.”
Mr Stone added that the multinational flavor of the exhibition lineup-which includes companies with global experience, indicated the high level of interest firms from around the world have taken in developing African markets. He explained that the level of detail possible in the exhibitors’ demonstrations made the event a good chance for vendors to exchange technology solutions they had developed specifically in response to the unique challenges of Africa, as well as for competitors to learn about each others products. “Overall,” Mr. Stone said, “I truly believe those who have chosen to set up a booth this year can expect to come away from this exhibition with a multitude of new contacts and business ideas, and I am confident that their time spent at GSM>3G Africa will be hugely profitable.”
