Evalue ROHS ESM-2850 ETXexpress Computer-On-Module

Evalue introduces ROHS compliant ETXexpress Computer-On-Module – the ESM-2850. It conforms to PICMG COM Express standard and implements the latest technologies based on serial differential signaling such as PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, SATA, LVDS and Serial DVO on an extreme compact size of 95 mm x 125 mm form factor. Adopting Intel(R) Pentium(R) M and Intel(R) 915GM core, ESM-2850 allows high clock speed up to 2.26 GHz and 1 GB DDR2 memory capacity at 533 MHz to address the demands for intensive process capabilities. Integrating these impressive features, ESM-2850 guarantees smooth transition from ETX module’s tradition legacy (PCI, IDE) to legacy-free (PCI Express, SATA).

Besides the features above, the integrated ICH6-M Southbridge chipset also supports the latest Intel(R) High Definition Audio that enables increased bandwidth for high quality audio. Supplementary functions include high speed I/O such as eight USB 2.0 ports, two serial ATA interfaces, and 8-bit GPIO pins for user’s own device configuration; fast Ethernet communication is provided by onboard Marvell 88E8053 Gigabit Ethernet controller.

The Intel(R) 915GM GMCH chipset incorporates Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (Intel(R) GMA 900) core which can deliver over 1.5 times faster performance than previous Intel(R) graphics chipset. The chipset supports Microsoft DirectX 9 for advanced 3D graphic acceleration and multiple display signals like CRT, HDTV encoder, as well as dual independent pipe for dual-channel LVDS panel supporting up to 1600×1200 resolutions. In addition to its onboard graphics support, ESM-2850′s onboard PCI Express system bus accommodates further extensions with high-end PCI Express x16 graphics add-on card and four extra PCI Express x1 interface devices. More expansions are available with four PCI bus.

The ETXexpress adopts the same concept as ETX Computer-On-Module. Because the custom baseboard is designed separately from the CPU module, it can easily be developed into specific form factor within the shortest time-frame and offers the fastest time-to-market solution for OEM customers. However, ETXexpress adapts ETX signaling standards such as UDMA, Ethernet, LPT, USB 1.1 and serial signals to high speed interfaces including PCI Express, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0. This provides an alternative option for elevated computing performance.
