ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX: ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT), the world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative 3D graphics and digital media silicon solutions, today announced that it has expanded and moved to a new 48,000-square foot facility in the city. Located at Trendset Towers, ATI’s largest R&D centre outside North America will be able to accommodate more than 400 engineers and support staff, more than double its current staff of 175.
ATI formally opened the principal research and development center for its consumer and PC business units in Hyderabad, India, on May 4th, 2005. ATI’s Hyderabad facility focuses on research and development of next generation audio and digital media products that will help broaden ATI’s offerings for consumer electronics devices and PCs, and will strengthen ATI’s position as the industry leader in digital multimedia solutions for all platforms. The Hyderabad center is currently working on developing chipsets for cell phones, high-definition TVs and set-top boxes.
The new workspace, custom-built to ATI’s specifications, was designed to align with the company’s global product development center design concept. Architects carefully examined the way employees from across the company’s multiple disciplines integrate their efforts to analyze, plan, design, build and tape out newer products successfully. They used this insight to create the office’s open architecture, modular workstations and various multi-purpose product design and meeting spaces. The result is a spacious, flexible environment that encourages interaction and comfort, while making it possible for project teams to focus on various tasks in the most efficient, effective manner.
“We’re excited about the move, as well as the benefits and efficiencies it will provide,” says Dasaradha Gude, Managing Director, ATI Technologies India. “This facility will better serve our global operations, and foster a more productive and collaborative environment for our teams. It will enable us to maintain our growth curve, improve our productivity and strengthen ATI’s commitment to provide innovative 3D graphics and digital media silicon solutions to our worldwide customer base.”
“The Indian development team has kept pace with the growth of our worldwide customer demand and has helped us develop products faster and more efficiently. It has also opened up new regional markets. Expanding into a new facility in less than a year indicates ATI’s acknowledgement of Indian talent in VLSI design,” said Adrian Hartog, Chief Technology OfficerSenior Vice President and GM, Consumer Business Unit, ATI Technologies Inc. “ATI has made great strides acquiring new customers and developing strategic partnerships with leading IT industry corporations, adding new product offerings, and expanding the company’s geographic reach,” he added. “With our new facility and expanded engineering team, we are confident that we will broaden our dominance appeal in all areas of visualization technology.”
