Elma Debuts Low-Profile PICMG 2.16 Compact Packet Switching Backplanes

Elma Bustronic Corporation, an industry leading designer and manufacturer of high performance backplanes has developed a line of Low-Profile PICMG 2.16 Compact Packet Switching Backplanes. The backplanes feature pluggable connectors positioned to save horizontal rack space.

The Low Profile PICMG 2.16 backplanes are 9U long, horizontally mounted in a chassis. This can potentially save a slot of rack space. Pluggable 47-pin power connectors are in the extra 3U of length, allowing the hot swapping of power supplies into the same monolithic backplane. In turn, this reduces the time, space consumption, and expense of cabling.

Low-Profile PICMG 2.16 Compact Packet Switching Backplanes

The backplanes are compliant to the cPSB PICMG 2.16 specification and come in various slot sizes. Both Star (one fabric slot) and Dual Star (two fabric slots) versions are available.
